Pueblo Rangers Soccer, Inc.
History:
Our organization was founded in 1982 by
a group of individuals who had a dream of developing soccer in
Pueblo
to be competitive with others across the state and nation.
A board of directors was formed by team
representation and they have worked to develop club uniforms, structured
tryouts, fund raising activities, the development of soccer fields and our club
newsletter.
From 1982 to 1995, league games were played primarily
at local high school fields. In
1993, an official presentation of $10,000 was made to the City of
Pueblo
for the development of a soccer complex. In
the spring of 1996, we had four complete fields at the
24th Street
“Langoni” Complex.
We have gone from 1 team to 45 teams and approximately 700
players with boys and girls teams in every age group. In 2002 the Pueblo Rangers
added U-10 Intermediate league soccer to assist young players with the
transition from recreational soccer to advance league soccer. We have also added
professional soccer education. In December 2003, the Rangers hired a
professional Director of Coaching to direct and educate our coaching staff and
work in southern Colorado to advance the sport of soccer. In the fall of 2004,
at the request of local teams, the Rangers added recreational soccer for ages 5
- 11 and then the following spring pioneered the concept of Middle School
Soccer. The middle school league resulted in the addition of 20 teams from
Pueblo's middle schools. The pueblo Rangers will continue to enhance the soccer
experience of
Pueblo
’s youth players and with the continued dedication of the new generation of
board members and parents, we can look forward to expanding our soccer program
and our soccer complex.
From the days of lining fields with tiny cans of spray paint
and home made corner flags to the wonderful complex we are now enjoying, we
would like to express our gratitude to those who made all of this possible: past
officers, board members, coaches and parents!
